Non-Surgical Mole Reduction Treatment
A raised or prominent mole can affect how you feel about your appearance, particularly when it is in visible areas of the face or body. At The Blemish Clinic, we provide mole reduction treatment using advanced electrolysis to reduce suitable benign moles towards skin level and improve their appearance, helping you feel more confident about your skin.

Our non-surgical approach can reduce raised or prominent moles without surgical excision or stitches, with minimal disruption to your daily routines. Qualified practitioners carry out treatment at our Northampton clinic and we assess your suitability before any cosmetic treatment.
If you have a mole you would like to make less noticeable, we can discuss your options during the consultation.

What is Mole Mapping?
Your safety comes first, so we only perform mole reduction on moles that a dermatologist has cleared as suitable for cosmetic treatment. If you haven’t had your mole assessed, you will need to do so before treatment.
Our mole mapping service involves taking dermoscopy images that are shared with a dermatologist for review. While mole mapping cannot diagnose skin cancer, you will get an expert opinion from a UK consultant dermatologist, and if anything concerning is spotted, we will flag your report as urgent to help you access the relevant pathway via the NHS.
Once your mole mapping report confirms suitability, you can proceed with mole reduction at The Blemish Clinic.

How Advanced Electrolysis Works for Mole Reduction
Our mole reduction treatment uses advanced electrolysis, also known as short wave diathermy, to treat suitable raised moles precisely. A fine probe delivers a controlled thermo-coagulation current to the mole, cauterising the raised tissue so it can be reduced towards skin level.
Our practitioners hold BTEC and VTCT qualifications and perform this non-surgical technique, which offers a controlled approach to mole reduction.
Before proceeding, they will explain the mole reduction treatment so you know what to expect.

Benefits of Non-Surgical Mole Reduction
Choosing mole reduction with advanced electrolysis offers a non-surgical alternative to cutting away a suitable raised mole. Treatment does not require stitches and is designed to minimise disruption, and your practitioner will confirm how long your appointment should take.

Benefits of treatment at The Blemish Clinic include:
-
Non-surgical treatment, meaning no cutting or stitches
-
Targeted treatment using advanced electrolysis
-
Controlled approach designed to support a smooth finish once healed
-
Treatment tailored to the individual mole
-
Professional care from qualified practitioners
-
Clear aftercare guidance to support healing
-
Minimal downtime for most clients
Our mole reduction treatment reduces the mole's prominence while aiming to protect the surrounding skin.
What to Expect During and After Treatment
Before treatment, your practitioner will assess the area and confirm that your mole is suitable for cosmetic reduction. They will explain the procedure, answer questions and provide instructions to prepare for treatment.
During the procedure, a fine probe delivers a controlled thermo-coagulation current to the mole. You may feel a brief heat or a prickling sensation as the area is treated. The treatment is carefully targeted to reduce the raised mole towards skin level.
Immediately after the mole reduction treatment, the area will look treated and a scab will start to form as part of the natural healing process. As it heals, you will be asked to leave the area undisturbed, so the scab comes off naturally. You should also keep the area dry and out of the sun while it heals. Our practitioners will give you detailed aftercare instructions to follow and are here for you if you have questions.
Following this advice ensures the best possible cosmetic result from your mole reduction treatment.
The Importance of Monitoring Your Moles
Melanoma skin cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the UK and since the 1990s, it has increased by 147%. Each year, over 17,000 cases are detected; however, it’s not all bad news as skin cancer can be cured if detected early on.
Mole mapping is available at the NHS but the wait time can be months long. For fast results, you can undergo mole mapping at The Blemish Clinic in Northampton for a small fee.

Does Mole Reduction Hurt?
You may feel a brief heat or a prickling sensation during treatment, and your practitioner will explain what to expect before treatment.
Will Mole Reduction Leave a Scar?
As with any treatment affecting the skin, scarring or changes to the treated area are possible. Your practitioner will explain any potential risks during your consultation.
Can a Mole Grow Back?
Mole reduction reduces the appearance of a suitable mole rather than removing it completely, so some mole tissue may remain and further treatment may be required.
Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?
You do not need a GP referral to book. However, the mole must be assessed and cleared as suitable for cosmetic treatment through our mole mapping service before treatment can take place.
